Patch's Guide to the 2012 Summer's Last Blast

Enjoy Bolingbrook Park District’s annual end-of-summer celebration at the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Complex.

Enjoy Bolingbrook Park District’s annual end-of-summer celebration, Summer's Last Blast, Saturday, August 25. The event will take place from noon until dusk.  The event kicks off with Parkie’s 5K Family Fun Run/Walk at 8 a.m. at the Bolingbrook Recreation & Aquatic Complex, 200 S. Lindsey Ln. All ages are welcome. The advance registration cost is $18 for ages 18 years and up and $16 for children ages 6-17 years. The day of registration fee is $22 and $20. Children five and under are free.  A fishing derby will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in the north section of the Volunteer Park, adjacent to the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Complex. The event is free to the public.  The rest of the celebration will be held from noon to dusk in the …

Park District Kicks Off Last Blast With Parkie's 5K

The annual run/walk was held Saturday.

The Bolingbrook Park District's Summer's Last Blast may mark the end of summer in Bolingbrook, but the Parkie’s 5K run and wlk marked  the beginning of a day of fun on Saturday. The weather was cooperative, the participants were pumped and it was a fun, family start to the day’s events. “The annual 5K is a kickoff to ‘Summer’s Last Blast,’ which is a festival we put on to thank the residents and everyone who uses the park district throughout the year,” said John Chase, a park district fitness sales manager and race director. Runners started at the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Complex, and traced out the 3.1 mile path that wound through nearby park grounds and residential areas and ended up back at the complex parking lot.  More than …

Summer's Last Blast Complete Schedule of Event

Summer's Last Blast, the Bolingbrook Park District's annual end-of-summer celebration is Saturday and will feature tons of family fun.

School may be a week old, but the Bolingbrook Park District is stuck in summer. Summer's Last Blast, the park district's annual end-of-summer celebration, is set for Saturday and thousands of Bolingbrook residents figure to benefit from tons of great events and (cross your fingers) beautiful weather. According to the park district's website, the event kicks off with Parkie's 5K Family Fun Run/Walk at 8 a.m. at the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Center and ends with a fireworks show beginning at 8:30 p.m. at Volunteer Park South. In between, the park district has loads of family fun set for the entire day. And apparently, Mother Nature is a Bolingbrook Park District fan.
