Taylor Coley, a fourth grader at Oak View Elementary School, is the first prize winner in the 2012 Illinois State Tar Wars poster contest. Coley, who qualified for state competition by earning high marks in the Will County Health Department’s Tar Wars contest, now advances to national competition held in conjunction with the National Tar Wars Conference in Washington D.C. During the Tar Wars Conference, students receive recognition for their tobacco-free efforts, get a chance to voice their opinions about tobacco use to their congressional leaders, participate in tobacco-free workshops and meet other state winners to share their tobacco-free views.
