Of the six races that Bolingbrook residents could vote on, five were won by incumbents. The other was won by the candidate supported by incumbents.
Tuesday was a good day to be an incumbent in Bolingbrook. Despite voters' lackluster performance, five of the six races that Bolingbrook residents vote on were won by those candidates already holding the position. The Valley View school board will meet tonight; public session begins at 7:30 p.m.
The Valley View school board is expected to make good on a promise it made in December to not burden area taxpayers more than it has to. The board, according to district documents, is set to pass a resolution that would allow the district to adjust its final 2010 tax levy allocation so that taxpayers pay no more than they did last year. The board will vote on a resolution that will seek a zero percent tax increase tonight at its regularly scheduled board meeting. The board, in December, requested a 6.3 percent tax increase with the caveat that it would revisit the matter before it had to request its final levy in March. By state law, school districts must submit a tax levy to the county clerk by the last Tuesday in December. That 6.3 …

Valley View administrators say classes will resume Friday. St. Dominic Catholic School also in session.
Well kids, it was fun while it lasted. And parents, you can breathe easy knowing your kids won’t be tracking loads of snow through the house anymore—well, at least until the weekend hits. Valley View administrators announced that all schools will resume classes Friday, complete with full bus service and a full after-school activity schedule. St. Dominic Catholic School will also resume classes Friday. The announcements come after Bolingbrook schools were shut down for the past two days because of the massive blizzard that dropped more than 14 inches of snow on the area. “It took an around-the-clock effor on the part of 50 Valley View School District building and grounds department staff members to make it happen,” said district spokesman …

Classes at all Valley View School District 365U schools will be canceled for the second straight day, school officials said this morning. A ParentLink notification is expected to be sent out later today. The district's administration center, located in Romeoville, will also be closed. "Our crews are working their hearts out trying to clean up after what is currently the third worst snow storm in Chicago's history," Randa said. "We are deeply grateful for their efforts."
