You make a good analogy; of course those with the most knowledge are the ones we want to make the ultimate decisions. But there is another side to this. At times when I've been hospitalized, when family members & friends have been hospitalized & I wanted to get the real low down on the person hospitalized, it is the nurses who normally knew the bottom line. When my father in his final hours in a …   more ›

…Quality vs quantity are the words from the superintendent indicating the reason for dismissing 142 staff members of the Valley View School District. What an insulting way to refer to a staff that has given six years of service to the children of this district. To dismiss our value and contributions based on nothing more than lacking a piece of paper that indicates we are “certified” regardless …   more ›

Rhonda, You always start with negative comments about people you don't know and then when they or their supporters fight back, you run and yell "everyone is bullying me". Stop poking the dragon. You are upset that Cedra (your yes woman) didn't win. Honestly AJ was a wonderful Senator. He won on his merit and record. The fact that he could be supported by both parties says alot about how much he …   more ›

You could have the best Board Members in the State, it is still not going to bring up test scores. The fault is with the parents and students that just don't care. We have parents that are not actively involved in their child's education and you have students that are always truant and acting as if they would rather be someplace other then school. These same students fail miserably on the States …   more ›

Bolingbrook Election 2013 Candidate: Deborah Sykora

Deborah Sykora is a candidate for one of four board seats on the Valley View School District 365U school board.

Applicable experience qualifying you for the position: I feel that I am qualified for this position of school board member because I have been an educator for more than thirty-five years. I understand the workings of a school and a classroom. I have served in a leadership roll for the district as well as serving on many district committees. Therefore, I feel that I have a very good understanding of the school system. Why are you running for this office: I want to run for the school board because, even though the school district has done many good things, I think there are changes that need to be made. I have lived in the community for over thirty-five years and have seen many changes in the educational system. Therefore, I feel there are …
