The village board will vote Tuesday whether to allow a Hawthorne Race Course off-track betting facility to open in Bolingbrook.
An off-track betting establishment may open in Bolingbrook. The village board will vote on two ordinances Tuesday that would pave the way for the Hawthorne Race Course OTB (off-track betting) facility. The first is an amendment to the zoning ordinance addressing off-track betting. The second is a special use permit. Both ordinances address a proposed OTB facility at 730 N. Bolingbrook Drive, the site of McQ's Bar & Grill. The applicant is Jeff Kras of Hawthorne Race Course, Inc. Hawthorne Race Course has other OTB locations in Aurora, Chicago, Glendale Heights, Joliet, Mokena and Prospect Heights, according to its website. Released Thursday, the five-year American Community Survey offers detailed demographic information on communities throughout the U.S.
The U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday released estimates from its American Community Survey, which provides local statistics for the combined years from 2007 to 2011 on everything from housing to employment to marital status in communities throughout the country. The five-year estimates are based on interviews with almost 2 million housing units nationwide from 2007 through 2011. By pooling several years of survey responses, the American Community Survey generates detailed statistical portraits for small areas. A dispatcher hit the wrong switch, causing the siren to go off around 4:45 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Some Bolingbrook residents woke early Wednesday to the sound of a tornado siren. Several Bolingbrook Patch readers reported waking up at 4:45 a.m. to the siren. More than 1,500 voters have cast ballots at the Village of Bolingbrook Town Center. Early voting ends Nov. 3.
More than 5 percent of Will County’s registered voters have already cast their ballots in the Nov. 6 election. As of Monday night, a total of 20,576 people had voted, including more than 18,000 early voters. In Bolingbrook, more than 1,500 early bird voters had done their civic duty at the Town Center. In Illinois, early voting started Oct. 22 and ends Nov. 3. Bolingbrook voters can vote early at the Town Center, 375 W. Briarcliff Rd. Dear Editor: Above all else, nothing is more important to the Village of Bolingbrook than ensuring our 74,000 residents enjoy the highest possible quality of life. Central to that goal is securing ample access to quality healthcare. As such, on behalf of the Village Board, I am happy to welcome U.S. Renal Care, a provider of life-saving dialysis services, to our community. A break in a fence line between a subdivision and townhomes is a "gateway for persons involved in criminal activity," the petition says.
A Bolingbrook man has launched an online petition to close an opening in a fence line between his neighborhood and the subdivision of townhomes on Fernwood Drive. Christopher Montrose has garnered 123 supporters so far on his online petition. He's looking for 200 total. Read the full petition on Change.org. Kuntz was honored as the 2012 Male Citizen of the Year in a recent Bolingbrook village board meeting.
Brian Kuntz has been named the 2012 Bolingbrook male citizen of the year. Each year, one man, one woman and one family are recognized by the village. Kuntz is a cancer and heart attack survivor who is heavily involved in Scouting. He was a leader in Cub Scouts for six years and Boy Scouts for five-plus years. Kuntz is a proud Eagle Scout recipient and has coached several different sports.
