Drunk Man Busted for Making 911 Calls about Locked Car, Police Say

Richard Rodriguez was told police were en route and not to dial 911 again, but he apparently disregarded the warning, Bolingbrook police said.

A Bolingbrook man who allegedly made three 911 calls within the span of a few minutes, even though police were en route and told him not to call again, was arrested Tuesday by the Bolingbrook Police Department.

Lt. Michael Rompa said a "highly intoxicated" Richard J. Rodriguez, 25, of 712 Rebecca, called police at about 8:25 a.m. because he wanted help unlocking his car inside his garage. It was an emergency, he told police, because he feared he was going to miss his DuPage County probation hearing and drug test.

Officers were dispatched to Rodriguez's house for a well-being check, but had not arrived before Rodriguez called a second time, Rompa said. He was warned not call a third time, but he did so anyway, he said.

Rodriguez was taken into custody and charged with false alarm/complaint to 911, a felony. He is being held in Will County jail pending a bond hearing.
