Shooter in Malibu Drive Incident Remains At Large: Police

After a party turns ugly, police chase suspects around Bolingbrook and onto I-55 before incident ends in unincorporated Joliet.

Charges have been filed against one of the suspects involved in the Malibu Drive shooting and high-speed chase incident that started in Bolingbrook early Saturday morning and ended in a foot pursuit off I-55 in unincorporated Joliet, according to Bolingbrook Lt. Mike Rompa.

Another suspect—believed to be the shooter—remains at large and a $1 million warrant has been approved for his arrest by the Will County State's Attorney's Office, Rompa said.

Martez Doss, 21, of Joliet, has been charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated assault to a police officer, obstructing and criminal damage to state-supported property, Rompa said.

After being processed at the Bolingbrook Police Department, Doss was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

The second suspect—Dominque D. Travis, 20, of Joliet—remains at large. Travis is facing charges of attempted first degree murder (two counts), aggravated battery with a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, obstructing and reckless discharge of a firearm, Rompa said.

"The preliminary information revealed there was a party at a residence on the 100 block of Malibu and an argument ensued," Rompa said. "A physical altercation erupted and shots were fired. Officers arrived and observed an SUV fleeing the scene."

Two men from Bolingbrook were shot—ages 20 and 21—one in the chest and one in the leg. Both were transported to nearby hospitals with what Rompa described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Bolingbrook police chased the fleeing suspects around Lake Shore Drive, Briarcliff Road and onto I-55, but not before the suspects intentionally rammed into a squad car on the streets of Bolingbrook. Initial reports indicated three suspects were apprehended after officers caught up with the alleged offenders on foot in unincorporated Joliet, but Rompa said charges have been filed against only two men at this time.

The incident began at 12:20 a.m. Saturday, Rompa said.
