Bolingbrook's Peters to Compete in World Shotokan Karate Championships

Bolingbrook's Jonathan Peters, age 19, is one of 27 area athletes representing the Illinois Shotokan Karate Clubs heading to the World Shotokan Karate Championships in Liverpool, England, this weekend.

And John DiPasquale, chief karate instructor at ISKC, will lead a contingent of Chicagoland karate students as they join a handful of fellow karate students from across the United States for two full days of competition (Sept. 28-29), according to a news released issued by ISKC representative Ashley Bosnick.

She said the U.S. team will be participating in four different events: Individual Kata (form), Individual Kumite (fighting), Team Kumite and Team Kata. A number of other countries also will be represented at the event, the list including France, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary and South America.
